🎯 How to measure your dog for a classic collar?

For the neck, not for the nerves! 😉
If you want that collar to fit like a dream, you’ve gotta start off right. And the start? A properly measured neck! Don’t go eyeballing that old collar lying on the table – it can throw you off big time, even by a few sneaky centimeters.
❓Why not measure a collar on the table?
Because a dog’s neck ain’t a ruler. It’s round – and the difference between a collar wrapped around a neck and one lying flat is a whole other story. 👉 Collar laid flat = shorter
👉 Collar on neck = longer
Even a couple of centimeters can be the difference between “fits like a glove” and “dang, this one’s choking him / slipping off.”
📏 How to measure the right way?
Piece of cake – just follow this step-by-step:
Grab a tailor’s tape (or use a string and measure it afterward with a ruler – we won’t judge).
Find the middle of the neck – where your dog usually wears their collar. Not up by the ears, not on the shoulders – smack dab in the middle.
Wrap the tape around the neck, snug but not tight. You should be able to slip 1–2 fingers under it – that’s the sweet spot for comfort.
Done! Jot down the number – that’s the Neck Circumference you’ll give us with your order.
🔧 How will the collar fit?
Our classic leather collars come with 5 holes.
Your measured neck size will match the middle hole – so you’ve got wiggle room to:
tighten it (if your pup slims down after vacation),
or loosen it (if winter fluff kicks in).
And since every collar is hand-stitched from real leather, it’ll break in and mold to your dog like it was made just for them – because it was.
🐾 TL;DR for the quick scrollers:
✅ Measure the neck, not the collar
✅ Tape goes around the middle of the neck, with 1–2 fingers underneath
✅ Send us the number as the “Neck Circumference”
✅ Best fit = middle hole

When in doubt, measure twice – fewer returns, more happy tails. And if you're stuck, hit us up – we can help with our eyes closed!
