🎯 How to Measure the Right Belt Size?
🧷 What does belt size mean at Slade Czech?
Every belt we make includes several holes for comfortable tightening or loosening.
The stated size is always measured:
👉 from the buckle to the centre hole
Which means:
✔ you still have room to tighten it
✔ you still have room to loosen it
✔ the belt fits properly — not painfully tight or hanging on by hope
Exactly how it should work.
And because we use proper full-grain leather, the belt naturally settles over time with wear. It doesn’t stretch out. It adapts.
The difference is about the same as comparing a leather jacket to a plastic carrier bag.
↔ Buckle on the left or right?
Yes, even this matters. And it’s not just some design flex.
Buckle on the left
Standard men’s fastening.
The belt end points to the left.
This is the classic direction most men have used their whole lives.
Buckle on the right
Typical women’s fastening.
The belt end points to the right.
Often chosen by women — or simply by people who prefer the opposite fastening direction out of habit.
It’s not a rule carved in stone.
It’s about comfort.
If you’ve fastened belts one way your entire life and suddenly switch sides, your brain spends a few days feeling like you’re getting dressed in a mirror. 😄
⚒ Why does sizing matter even more with a proper leather belt?
Cheap belts are usually soft, thin and eventually give in to almost anything.
A serious leather belt works differently.
Models such as No Witness, Coinage, Stafford Knot or Smart Casual are built around solid construction, thick leather and substantial hardware.
They’re not photographed fashion props made for one season.
When the size is right:
✔ the belt keeps its shape
✔ the buckle sits where it should
✔ the belt tip doesn’t stick out like an antenna
✔ the whole outfit simply looks cleaner
Small detail. Big difference.
