Living with a child and a dog can be a real challenge for many parents. Especially when you decide to bring into the family a hyperactive four-legged creature that has more energy than your child, even though your child is usually like a live wire on caffeine.

So how do you start this coexistence? The first step is to find a suitable dog. No, I don't mean that you should buy a dog that will behave like a teddy bear and won't cause any damage. If you want that, you can buy a teddy bear. What I mean by a suitable dog is a dog that will have similar energy and temperament to your child. For example, if you have a calm child, choose a calm dog. But if you have a little hyperactive monster at home that won't stop for anything, look for a dog with similar energy. Such a dog can play with your child for hours and you will have at least a little peace.

Another important thing is to teach your child how to behave properly towards your new addition. Teach your child that a dog is not a toy that they can do whatever they want with. Teach them how to pet and play with the dog properly. It is also important to teach the child that the dog has its own places and that it should not disturb it when it sleeps or rests. There is nothing worse than a child waking up a sleeping dog by jumping on its belly.

But don't worry, it's not just about teaching the child. It is also important to teach the dog how to behave towards the child. Especially if you have a newborn at home, you need to make it clear to the dog that this is not a toy and that it must respect it. If you are not sure how to do this, seek advice from a professional.

Finally, I would like to emphasize that living with a child and a dog can be great and full of love. You just need to follow some basic rules and teach both sides to respect each other. But most importantly, enjoy your time together.
